Spend an afternoon at Lakeside Park in Marble Falls

Lakeside Park on the shore of Lake Marble Falls is a year-round recreation destination. With the wide lawn of lush green grass and no shortage of sunshine, it’s a place the entire family can enjoy.

Bring a lunch and eat under one of the many covered picnic tables, complete with barbecue pits. The huge lawn is never crowded — a perfect place to run around and explore. You can even catch some rare Pokemon there, if that’s your thing.

What would Lakeside Park be without lake activities? Take a dip in the water of Lake Marble Falls — or fly into it. A large oak tree on the left side of the park has a rope swing for which thrill-seekers line up for a go.

There’s also a boat ramp (with trailer parking) for direct access to Lake Marble Falls. Take a boat, a personal watercraft, a kayak or a paddleboard for a spin on Lake Marble Falls. To find a list of local rental businesses, click here.

The features don’t end there. Grab your sports gear and head to the tennis or basketball courts.

Also, we can’t forget the swimming pool, which has a diving board for the big kids and a wading pool with a mushroom water feature for the little ones. The pool operates during the summer from May to late August. A day pass costs $4 for ages 13 and older, $3 for ages 3-12 and free for toddlers. A family membership is available if you visit often.

Each August, the lawn is filled with spectators for the LakeFest drag boat races, an iconic event in the Highland Lakes. Competitors from across the nation bring unbelievably fast boats — we’re talking speeds over 260 mph — to race.

During the holidays, Lakeside Park becomes festive. Walkway of Lights transforms the park into a winter wonderland. The annual Christmas lights display is organized by the city as a gift to the community.

The future of Lakeside Park is also bright. A new hotel and conference center adjacent to the park is set to be developed in spring 2017. Revenue from the new development will be put back into Lakeside Park; concept plans for the area include a boardwalk, fountains, amphitheaters, gardens and more.

Lakeside Park is located at 305 Buena Vista Drive in Marble Falls. Visit the city website for more information.
