A prediction for snow in Burnet on Dec. 12 comes with a high degree of probability, at least on the courthouse square, where visitors will also find a holiday parade and shopping.

Starting at about noon as part of Christmas on the Square, two snow play areas and a sledding hill will open up for fun and snowballs at Snow on the Square, compliments of Burnet County and the city of Burnet.

Admission for the sledding hill and two snow play areas is free. The Christmas on the Square Parade begins at approximately 5 p.m. The parade stages near the Burnet Community Center on Jackson Street, just east of the square. It travels down Jackson Street to the historic square and turns north on Pierce Street before making its way around the square and returning to the community center.

Officials will encourage social distancing and other COVID-19 health and safety protocols in place at the time of the event.

It’s a wonderful chance to also enjoy the Burnet County Courthouse lights. After a day of sledding, playing in the snow, and watching the parade, spectators can check out the rest of the Burnet Trail of Lights.
