Hill Country Trivium in Marble Falls a Scenic Yet Challenging Run
MARBLE FALLS — The Hill Country Trivium courses take runners on paved country roads with beautiful scenery and treacherous hills Nov. 12, 2017.
Runners can register for the 10K, half-marathon (or “Thirteener”), marathon, or the 50K ultra.
The free Phoenix Family Fun Run is 5 p.m. Nov. 11 and 9:30 a.m. Nov. 12 and is a leisurely walk or jog outdoors. The family run benefits The Phoenix Center, a Highland Lakes nonprofit organization that provides high-quality, affordable mental health care for local children and families.
All runners begin and finish at Mustang Stadium on the Marble Falls High School campus, 2101 Mustang Drive. All courses go west from the stadium to CR 340 (Mormon Mill Road). The 10K runners turn around before reaching CR 341, where half-marathon, marathon, and ultra runners wind through hills and pastures. Half-marathon runners will turn around before marathon and ultra runners, who continue to RR 1431. After the RR 1431 turnaround, marathon and ultra runners return to the Mormon Mill Road intersection and trek north to their respective turnarounds.
Besides the great sense of accomplishment, other perks await those who finish the races Nov. 12, such as a pie from the Blue Bonnet Cafe.
Runners can save money on registration the earlier they sign up. Until Oct. 15, registration is $55 for the 10K, $75 for the Thirteener, $85 for the marathon, and $95 for the 50K ultra. The fee then increases by $10 for each race until Nov. 5. Registration fees increase another $10 on Nov. 11.
The marathon and 50K races begin at 7 a.m.; the half-marathon at 7:30 a.m.; and the 10K at 8 a.m.
Those who want to participate, but not run, can sign up to volunteer for various duties during the races.
