Discover live theater in the Highland Lakes
While the Highland Lakes probably qualifies as “off Broadway,” don’t think for a moment the local live theater is anything but outstanding. Theater lovers and newbies alike have two incredible places to enjoy live theater.
• Hill Country Community Theatre, 4003 RR 2147 in Cottonwood Shores — Go to thehcct.org or call 830-693-2474.
• Llano Community Theatre — Check with Briley Mitchell at the Llano Chamber of Commerce by calling 325-247-5354.
• Fredericksburg Theatre Company, 1668 U.S. 87 South in Fredericksburg — Go to fredericksburgtheater.org. Visit 101HighlandLakes.com/EVENTS for upcoming performances. Plus, with Christmas coming up, you bet these theaters will have some Christmas shows in their lineups.
Both theaters rely on community support and volunteers with a minimal paid staff to keep live theater thriving. And thrive it does. After a visit to either theater, you’ll come away wanting more.
If you’re interested in getting involved in live theater, both offer plenty of opportunities. And for youth, there are summer programs as well.
But don’t overlook a variety of other possibilities such as Harmony School of Creative Arts (harmonyarts.org) and more. You can check out The Picayune Magazine or 101HighlandLakes.com for a list of upcoming shows and performances around the area.
