Marble Falls LakeFest is Aug. 6-7

It has been three years since LakeFest drag boats have roared down Lake Marble Falls during one of the most popular stops on the tour for drivers, crews, and fans. The event returns Aug. 6-8.
Races are that Saturday and Sunday at Lakeside Park, 305 Buena Vista Drive. The fan favorite Show & Shine is that Friday at Johnson Park, 230 Avenue J South, where people can get a sneak peek at boats that can hit up to 200 mph and talk to their drivers and crews. Racing craft include personal watercraft all the way up to the blazing-fast top-alcohol hydros and top-alcohol flats.
The Southern Drag Boat Association is the 2021 event's sanctioning body. The Marble Falls-Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce hosts LakeFest. Tickets are available online and at the gate. Single-day admission starts at $20 for ages 13-64 and $10 for ages 7-12. Children 6 and younger get in free with a paying adult. Tickets for veterans and ages 65 and older begin at $15. Spectators can pay an additional fee for special viewing areas on the grassy stretch below Lakeside Pavilion.
For the VIP treatment, purchase the Top Eliminator Package, which includes two-day admission and full weekend access to the Lakeside Pavilion lounge with air conditioning, breakfast, lunch, three drink tickets for ages 21 and older, and an event T-shirt. Cost is $150 for ages 13 and older and $60 for ages 6-12.
A cooler fee is $20 each day. Food vendors and non-alcoholic drink vendors will be on site, but visitors must bring their own adult beverages.
You can purchase tickets and LakeFest merchandise with cash or credit. No ATMs on site.Gates open at 7 a.m. on Aug. 7-8 with qualifying races starting at 9 a.m. Saturday and continuing through the day. Elimination rounds on Sunday begin at 9 a.m.
An outdoor market is 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 7 outside of the gate. Market entrance is free.
Show & Shine is 5-8 p.m. Aug. 6 at Johnson Park. Admission is free. People can walk the pit area, meet the crews and drivers, and get an up-close look at the boats. Teams will often have T-shirts and other merchandise available for purchase. You might even be able to climb inside a boat for a photo.
