Lake Marble Falls is once again home to the fastest liquid quarter-mile as the LakeFest dragboat races return in 2021 after a three-year hiatus. The event is Aug. 7-8 and sponsored by the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce and the Southern Drag Boat Association.

LakeFest takes place at Lakeside Park, 305 Buena Vista Drive. Tickets for the speed fest are on sale online. Single-day admission begins at $20 per day for ages 13-64 and $10 per day for ages 7-12. Each child 6 and younger gets in free with a paying adult. Tickets for veterans and ages 65 and older begin at $15. Two-day passes are available and include a free LakeFest T-shirt for adults, veterans, and seniors if purchased before July 5.

At an additional cost are special viewing areas on a grassy stretch below Lakeside Pavilion and the beach at Lakeside Park.

A cooler fee is $20 each day. Food vendors and non-alcoholic drink vendors will be on site, but visitors must bring their own adults beverages.

Fans seeking the VIP treatment can purchase the Top Eliminator Package, which includes two-day admission and full weekend access to the Lakeside Pavilion lounge with air conditioning, breakfast, lunch, three drink tickets (for ages 21 and older), and an event T-shirt. Cost is $150 for ages 13 and older and $60 for ages 6-12.

While racing is Aug. 7-8, the fun actually begins Aug. 6 with the popular Show and Shine from 5-8 p.m. at nearby Johnson Park, 230 Avenue J South. Fans can see boats up close and meet drivers and crews. Admission is free.

Also, an outdoor market with Hill Country crafters, bakers, and style creators will be set up from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 7 outside of the gates.

Racing starts at 9 a.m. Aug. 7 with the qualifying rounds and continues into the afternoon. Elimination rounds start at 9 a.m. Aug. 8. An awards ceremony is that day at 5:30 p.m. at Johnson Park.

Gates open at 7 a.m. both days.

The Southern Drag Boat Association season starts May 14-16 in Bryan, Texas.
