Reckless Kelly headlines the 39th annual Bluebonnet Festival, which is April 8-10 in Burnet. The Mighty Thomas Carnival opens April 7 and continues through the rest of the festival.

Along with live music and the carnival, the Bluebonnet Festival features a grand parade and pet parade, arts and crafts vendors, races, a classic car show, games and contests, children's activities, and food and drinks. Most events take place around the courthouse square.

Highlights from the schedule are:

APRIL 7-10

Mighty Thomas Carnival:

• 5-10 p.m. April 7
• 5-11 p.m. April 8
• 11 a.m.-11 p.m. April 9
• noon-5 p.m. April 10

APRIL 8

• Opening ceremonies, 5:30-6 p.m.
• Pet parade, 5:45-6:30 p.m.
• Street dance with Departure ATX, 8-10 p.m.

APRIL 9

• Kids' K, YMCA 5K, 10K, Senior 2K, starting at 8 a.m. and 8:15 a.m.
• Lakes Area Rods and Classics car show, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
• Grand parade, 11 a.m.-noon
• Demolition Derby, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
• Reckless Kelly performance, 9:45-11:15 p.m.

APRIL 10

• Wiener dog race, 1-3 p.m.
