Tiny Castell throws a big party

The Castell General Store’s Testicle Festival is back for its 15th year. The small Llano River town hosts its crown jewel of events on Saturday, May 20, starting at noon. Swing by the store, 19522 RR 152 West, for a day of food, live music, games, and more.
This year's Testicle Festival welcomes Texas country artist Kyle Park. The hundreds of expected visitors to the big, yellow gem of a general store can also compete in bar games and indulge in hundreds of pounds of crawfish and calf fries. (That would be fried bull testicles. AKA Rocky Mountain oysters and cowboy caviar.)
The calf fries are the centerpiece of this celebration. They are an old Western culinary tradition, given new life by the Castell General Store’s enigmatic owner-operator, Randy Leifeste. If you'd prefer to steer clear of them, try the mudbugs. The festival brings in hundreds of pounds of boiled crawfish for its ravenous patrons.
Fueled by the delicious food, test your skill in high-stakes games of washers, enter a raffle and hope for wild prizes, hop in the cool waters of the Llano River, and most important, have a good time.
