Steer wrestling and music festival Oct. 8

Granite Shoals has roped the 2023 U.S. Junior Steer Wrestling Championship along with the Texas Pink Jamboree music festival. The third annual event is Oct. 8 at Quarry Park, 2221 N. Phillips Ranch Road.
The championship draws the top young steer wrestlers in the country who've already won some of the toughest rodeos. Last year's event took place in Marble Falls. Athletes are no older than 19.
The Oct. 8 event also includes the Leon Bauerle Cowboy Reunion and breakfast for the old-timers and mutton busting for the youngest buckaroos.
The country music soundtrack for the rodeo will be provided by the Texas Pink Jamboree. The lineup includes Jesse Raub Jr., Gary P. Nunn, Los Texmaniacs & Flaco Jimenez, Diamond Dixie, Fitted & Flannels, John Arthur Martinez & Pauline Reese, and Eddie Shell & The Not Guilties.
Attendees can also enjoy goat roping, vendors, food, and a performance by rope artist and horseman Tomas Garcilazo, known as the "Charro on the Road."
VIP and general admission tickets are on sale now. See a full schedule at usjsw.com.
