Castell Cockaroo Festival on Sept. 4-5 has music, cornhole, and fireworks
A town known for events such as the Nuts and Tails Festival (formerly the Testicle Festival) and the Polar Plunge (not on the same day) has added another tantalizing happening. The Cockaroo Festival celebrates the end of summer Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 4-5, at the Castell General Store, 19522 RR 152. Admission is free.
On Saturday, live music starts at noon with Dirt Road Crude taking the stage until 4 p.m. Up-and-coming country music artist Braxton Keith takes over at 6 p.m. and performs until “whenever.”
Folks can try their hand at winning cash prizes during the cornhole tournament starting at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Fireworks light up the night sky once the sun goes down.
On Sunday, Chad Richard performs at noon.
While you never need a reason to visit Castell, the Cockaroo Festival is just one more “excuse” to hit the road for an end-of-summer, or start-of-fall, road trip.
Once at Castell, you can enjoy food at the general store or do a little fishing on the Llano River. Or, just chill out and let Castell life carry you away.
