Before grabbing a handful of wild berries to snack on during your next nature hike, attend the “Native Edible Plants of the Texas Hill Country” seminar March 13 at the Lakeshore Branch Library — just to make sure your hike doesn’t end at the hospital.

There are many edible native plants found in the Highland Lakes, but what are they?

Master Naturalist Jerry Stacy will share his extensive knowledge of edible native plants during the Wednesday program, which is 2 p.m. at the library, 7346 RR 261 in Buchanan Dam.

You’ll be amazed by the natural bounty of edible treats that awaits outdoors.

The event is a free Green Thumb program and is open to the public.

Call the library at (325) 379-1174 to reserve a spot.
