Elevate Church Hosts Sk8 Park Sunday; Free Fun, Food, Fellowship Sept. 30
Elevate Church of Marble Falls is known for its love of the BMX and skating communities. In fact, church leaders view this as a calling and ministry.
The church is hosting Sk8 Park Sunday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 30 at Falls Creek Skate Park, 900 Yett St. in Marble Falls.
“We’ve never done it on a Sunday before, and I don’t know what to expect,” said the Rev. Shane Wenger of Elevate Church. The skateboarding events have been a regular activity for the church. “We definitely love the skate park. We love the community, and we love the connection with the community. We want to be a blessing to the community.”
The church welcomes all types of competitors, including skateboarders, BMXers, and scooter riders. Prizes will be awarded to the winners, and there will be giveaways for the crowd throughout the event.
“We’ll have kind of a Sunday morning vibe,” said Wenger, meaning the atmosphere will be energetic, fun, and without pressure, just like the church's services.
Organizers didn’t forget the younger children, who can ride a barrel train or race through an inflatable obstacle course during the competition.
The Elevate Band will provide music, and people can feast on free Opie’s BBQ.
“We’re excited the city is allowing us to go out there,” Wenger said. “Our whole goal is to connect with people. We love what we do. We love the city, we love this area, and we love the people.”
Volunteers are needed for the event. Go to elevatechurchtx.org or call (512) 588-0304 to sign up or for more information.
Elevate Church holds regular services at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sundays at Lakeside Pavilion, 307 Buena Vista Drive in Marble Falls.
