FREDERICKSBURG — A celebratory opening night gala for the Fredericksburg Theater Company production of “The Music Man” is June 15.

Food and drinks will be served in the lobby of the Steve W. Shepherd Theater, 1668 U.S. 87 South, at 6:30 p.m. Friday before the first performance. Live music will play in the background as the audience mingles. Dessert will be served during intermission.

The musical runs through July 1 with shows at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $29 for adults and $12 for ages 17 and younger.

Wicked, funny, warm, romantic, and touching, Meredith Willson’s six-time Tony Award-winning musical follows fast-talking salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City into buying instruments and uniforms for a band he vows to organize despite not knowing a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to quickly skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian.

Popular songs from the score include “Ya Got Trouble,” “76 Trombones,” and “Till There Was You.”

Tickets can be purchased online at or by calling the box office at (888) 669-7114. Box office hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Friday.
