Hill Country Community Theatre's 'bold' season opens with 'Patsy Cline'

The Hill Country Community Theatre launches its most ambitious season with the musical "Always ... Patsy Cline" on Friday, Sept. 23. The 2022-23 lineup "boasts a bold selection of comedy, music and touching drama," the theater touted in a Sept. 20 media release.

Directed and underwritten by Cathy Rose, "Always ... Patsy Cline" tells the true story of the friendship between the legendary country singer and a devoted fan after their first meeting at a Texas honky-tonk in 1961.

“It’s a beautiful tribute shared through the memories of Louise Seger, who Patsy continued to correspond with until her death, and features27 of Patsy’s songs,” said HCCT Executive Director Patty Gosselin in the release.

Linda Bradshaw and Kathryn McWilliams play the roles of Louise and Patsy, respectively. The performance will be accompanied by a live band on stage directed by Les Young.

“We have been very fortunate to find such talented players for this show to initiate HCCT’s 38th season,” Rose said.

The production runs through Oct. 16 at the theater, 4003 FM 2147 West in Cottonwood Shores. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $27 for adults and $17 for students with identification and may be purchased online or reserved by calling the box office at 830-798-8944. Ticket packages also are available.

The rest of the 2022-23 season includes:

  • "A Tuna Christmas" — Dec. 2-18, 2022
  • "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" — Feb. 3-26, 2023
  • "On Golden Pond" — April 14-May 7, 2023
  • "Oliver!" — July 14-Aug. 6, 2023
