Granite Shoals's Jesus Toys for Kids Provides Presents and True Gift

Super Mario, played by Pastor Raul Fernandez of Journey to the Cross Church of San Antonio, made an appearance at the first Jesus Toys for Kids in December 2017. Founders Mary Lou and Roy Guerrero didn’t say if the video game hero or other children’s favorites will be at this year’s event, noting families will have to attend to find out. Courtesy photo

When Mary Lou and Roy Guerrero created Jesus Toys for Kids last year, they wanted one thing: to make sure every child, no matter their situation, receives a Christmas present.

The ministry, part of Jesus the Divine Teacher Ministries, is holding a party for children ages 1-10 — along with parent or adult guardian — from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Highland Lakes Elementary School, 8200 RR 1431 West in Granite Shoals.

Other ministries are participating, offering face painting, Bible readings and storytelling, and more. Free hot dogs will be served.

“Every child that attends will get a gift,” Roy Guerrero said. “The emphasis is Jesus is the true gift.”

The organization is still accepting toys for ages 6-10.

The event also has room for more ministries, Guerrero added.

Drop off toys at Joseph’s Food Pantry, 706 N. Phillips Ranch Road in Granite Shoals, or call (830) 220-2344 for more information.

“It’s a fun day for the kids to come out and have fun,” Guerrero added.
