Celebrate Independence Day at AquaBoom

AquaBoom is back with a bang this year. Highland Lakes residents and visitors can celebrate Independence Day for more than a week at a variety of events, including a golf tournament, parades, live music, and fireworks.

Festivities are hosted across Kingsland. Fireworks explode in the night sky at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4, and can be watched on the David and Pat Enloe Memorial Bridge, RR 2900 in Kingsland.

Here’s the schedule of events.

Friday, June 25

Veterans dinner: 5:30 p.m. at the Chapel of the Hills Church, 19135 Texas 29 in Buchanan Dam. To reserve a spot, click here.

Friday, July 2

Golf tournament: 9 a.m. at Legends Golf Course, 105 Rangeway Circle in Kingsland. To register, click here.

Saturday, July 3

Arts-and-crafts show: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at 1335 RR 1431 behind M&M Donuts.

Horseshoe pitch tournament: 10 a.m. at Kingsland Community Park, 119 Christopher St. Tournament signup starts at 9 a.m.

Poker Run on the River: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. starting at Wakepoint LBJ, 14757 RR 1431 West.

Washer toss tournament: 10 a.m. at Wakepoint LBJ, 14757 RR 1431 West. Registration starts at 9 a.m.

Patriotic meal hosted by Lambda Nu: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Kingsland Masonic Lodge, 900 Texas St. For more information, click here.

Street dance: 8-11:30 p.m. at First United Bank, 311 RR 2900. Live music by the River Rat Revue.

Sunday, July 4

Arts-and-crafts show: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at 1335 RR 1431 behind M&M Donuts.

Children’s parade: 9 a.m. with kids lining up at the corner of RR 1431 and RR 2900. Registration and staging of the event begin at 7:30 a.m. at Packsaddle Elementary School, 150 Pioneer Lane.

Carnival: 9 a.m. to dark at Packsaddle Fellowship Church, 508 RR 2900.

Lake Area Rods & Classics car show: 11 a.m. outside of Security State Bank, 204 RR 2900.

Patriotic costume contest: 12:30 p.m. at 1335 RR 1431 behind M&M Donuts. Event registration starts at noon.

Water activities at the 2900 bridge include a rubber ducky race at 5 p.m., live music by The Motts, and the WaterWorks Wakeboard Show at 7 p.m., featuring world champion Harley Clifford. Vendors will have food and drinks for purchase on the bridge.

The long-awaited fireworks display begins at dark on July 4. Tune in to or stream KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune for synchronized music.
