HCCT spins tale of deviously delicious 'Little Shop of Horrors'

Be entangled in a web of sinister hilarity and captivating music at the Hill Country Community Theatre production of "Little Shop of Horrors." It runs through Oct. 15 at the Cottonwood Shores theatre and is the first play in the HCCT's Season 38.
This Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi musical sensation has thrilled audiences for more than 30 years and is the brainchild of creative geniuses Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, renowned for their work on Disney classics such as "The Little Mermaid," "Beauty and the Beast," and "Aladdin."
The story revolves around Seymour Krelborn, a meek floral assistant portrayed in the HCCT production by the talented Jordan Jones. Seymour stumbles upon a peculiar plant variety he dubs Audrey II, named after his co-worker crush. Unbeknownst to the quirky protagonist, this not-so-typical plant possesses an insatiable appetite for blood and a penchant for R&B tunes. Promising fame and fortune, Audrey II drives Seymour down a treacherous path.
Jones stars alongside Christine Ashbaugh as love interest Audrey. The cast also includes J.D. Cole as Mushnik, Tai Pritchett as the vocally talented Audrey II, Austin Carswell as the sadistic Orin Scrivello, Ava Siera as Ronnette, Heidi Eubanks as Crystal, and Heidi Melton as Chiffon. Rounding out the ensemble are Brandon Gonzales, Rick Day, Catherine Rose, Angelica White, and Samantha Schwartz.
Behind the scenes are director Daniel Melton, music director Carlee Abschneider, scenic designer Charlie Hukill, and choreographer Heidi Melton.
"Little Shop of Horrors" performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. at the HCCT, 4003 FM 2147 West. Purchase tickets online or by calling the box office at 830-798-8944.
