Llano's Dickens of a Christmas for bah humbugs and merry revelers

Llano will be visited by the spirit of Christmas past from Dec. 2-4. Straight from the pages of a Victorian-era novel, the Dickens of a Christmas festival has fun for all ages — from Ebenezer Scrooges to Tiny Tims.

Explore Llano's historic downtown, where you'll meet characters from Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" as well as Father and Mother Christmas, who will have goodies for good little boys and girls.

Festivities start Friday with a Dickens of a Barrel Race at the John L. Kuykendall Arena, 2200 RR 152, and continue through Sunday with A Dickens of a Tea and Victorian Fashion Show at 2 p.m. in the Llano Independent School District Community Room, 1400 Oatman St.

On Saturday, you can:

  • dash in the Reindeer Fun Run (lineup at 8 a.m.);
  • have Breakfast with Santa at 9 a.m. (tickets are $5);
  • walk through a Dickens of a Home Tour;
  • and enjoy a meal and a show during the "Bah Humbug" dinner theater.

Other festival features include a Christmas market, Victorian costume contests for adults and children, live music on the main stage as well as strolling musicians and magicians, carriage rides, a petting zoo, games, crafts, refreshments, and a lighted Christmas parade. At night, walk through a winter wonderland in Badu Park, 300 Legion Drive, when the Starry, Starry Nights display lights up.
