Brighten Christmas spirit by being Walkway of Lights volunteer
MARBLE FALLS — One of the biggest holiday events is getting ready to light up the Highland Lakes — but it needs you.
The 25th annual Walkway of Lights opens Nov. 20, and organizers are looking for volunteers to help prepare for the event and then greet visitors.
With so many lighted sculptures, Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce officials are looking for some help setting up. Then, if you’re feeling a bit creative, you can lend a hand 3-5 p.m. Fridays to help make decorative bows.
Starting Nov. 20, after officials flip the switch on the lighted display at Lakeside Park, volunteers are needed to greet folks. The greeters operate during two-hour shifts — 6-8 p.m. and 8-10 p.m. — each night from Nov. 20 to Jan. 1, 2016.
There are also opportunities for area nonprofits to run the Walkway concession stand.
The Walkway of Lights is a Marble Falls tradition. Each year, thousands of people from across the country and even around the world visit the Christmas light display.
Call the chamber of commerce at (830) 693-2815 or email Elizabeth Maynard at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to sign up.
And mark your calendars Nov. 20 for the Christmas Light-up Parade, which leads up to the official lighting of Walkway of Lights. Individuals, organizations and businesses interested in participating in the parade may also call the chamber at the number above.
