The fourth annual Rumble at the River Car Show is Saturday, May 11, at the Cottonwood Shores Volunteer Fire Department.

All makes and models of vehicles, including motorcycles, are welcome at the event, which raises money for the volunteer fire department, 610 Birch Lane.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., and judging starts at 1 p.m. Trophies to the top 10 vehicles and the People’s Choice award will be presented at 1:30 p.m. Each trophy is handmade by a member of the department’s auxiliary, so no two are alike, said Christine Widmer, the department’s event coordinator.

There is no cost to vehicle owners to participate, but donations will be accepted. The event is open to the public, and everyone is invited.

Proceeds from the car show will help the volunteer department purchase new self-contained breathing apparatus for its firefighters and first responders. The department hopes to buy 10 new ones with spare bottles at an approximate cost of $70,000 to replace its aging equipment.

Attendees can win koozies, caps, and other items. Tickets are $1 each for a chance to win one of five themed gift baskets. There will also be sausage wraps, chips, drinks, and more for sale.

Widmer said the 2018 car show drew 24 entrants.

“I’m hoping we double it,” she said.

The car show had originally been scheduled for May 18 but was moved up to May 11. Go to cwsvfd.org for more information on how to donate to the event or the department. Email events@cwsvfd.org for more on the car show.
