UPDATE: Spider Mountain Bike Park announced Thursday, Feb. 11, that it's weekend anniversary celebratio was canceled due to extreme winter weather.

As part of its second anniversary celebration, Spider Mountain Bike Park is offering free, scenic chairlift rides Feb. 13-14 to thank the Highland Lakes community for its support.

Spider Mountain Bike Park, located on the shores of Lake Buchanan in Burnet County, is the nation’s only year-round, lift-served mountain biking park. It offers nine mountain biking trails for riders of all levels as well as a hiking trail to the top.

And the view from up there is one of the best in the Highland Lakes.

The free lifts are for scenic rides only, not for riding the trails, and offered 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. both days.

The park is celebrating its second anniversary 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14. Activities include a Polar Plunge Slip & Slide at the Thunderbird Lodge pool on Saturday and live music from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday.

Also on Sunday, former Pro XC racer and Enduro champion Rich Drew will take part in a free question-and-answer session during breakfast followed by “party laps,” giveaways, and more.

Spider Mountain Bike Park is located at 200 Greenwood Trail on the northeast shores of Lake Buchanan. Visit the website or call 512-756-4878 for more information.
