You’re invited to The Big Family Reunion

Find your happy place, literally, at The Big Family Reunion 2023. The good timin’ music and arts festival is Oct. 14 at the aptly named Happy Place, TX, a family ranch at 2934 Burnet County Road 208. This down-home pasture party has deep Lone Star State roots that intertwine with the modern music scene of The Big Apple (that's New York City, y'all).
The festival’s musical lineup features at least 16 acts spanning a variety of genres, including cosmic country, country-country, hip-hop, trance-folk, singer-songwriter, and good old rock 'n’ roll. There's even one heck of a magician performing for a little razzle-dazzle.
The Big Family Reunion is in its second year and hosted by Family Friend, a music events collective.
“My parents have just always called (the ranch) ‘Happy Place’,” Family Friend’s head of community, Doak Hensley, told 101HighlandLakes.com. “It’s easy to invite people to Happy Place.”
Hensley was born and raised in Burnet County but currently lives in Brooklyn, New York, where he manages events for the collective and plays music. He envisions the festival as a blend of Burnet County and Brooklyn.
“I’ve always loved Texas and been proud to be a Texan,” he said. “Being here (in Brooklyn), it's made me even more proud. It was a way to show my friends the beautiful piece of Burnet County that I came from.”
The festival is an actual reunion for good friends and fellow musicians, but everyone is welcome to attend. Bring your own family and beverages of choice. Along with music, you can shop local vendors, purchase food, watch hands-on arts and crafts demonstrations, and imbibe the good vibes on tap.
Tickets are $20 each. Or, drop $100 for a guaranteed parking spot and special merchandise. Visit familyfriendworld.com for details, tickets, and a full schedule. Follow @familyfrienduniverse on Instagram to keep up with the reunion and future events.
