3 Highland Lakes golf courses among best in Texas
GolfPass ranked three Highland Lakes courses as top places to tee off in Texas in its 2023 Golfers' Choice list. The rankings are based on golfer-submitted ratings and reviews throughout the year.
On the list are No. 10 Delaware Springs Golf Course in Burnet, No. 15 Hidden Falls Golf Course in Meadowlakes, and No. 23 Lighthouse Country Club in Kingsland.
Built in 1992, Delaware Springs is no stranger to recognition. Since 2014, the course has been listed as one of the top 25 courses in Texas eight times. In 2015, the course was also recognized as the No. 2 value course in the country.
Delaware Springs reviewers noted its difficult greens and vexing sand traps as favorite attributes.
More than 400 positive reviews contributed to Hidden Falls Golf Course's first-ever top 25 spot on the Golfer's Choice list. Built in 1973, it was named the No. 11 friendliest golf course in the country by Golf Advisor in 2014.
Reviewers highlighted Hidden Falls' water hazards and forced carries as welcome challenges. In its course profile, the club is described as a great place for locals, seniors, and beginners.
Lighthouse Country Club also has been ranked several times in the past. The club’s amenities and scenic views of Packsaddle Mountain were among reviewers' favorite aspects.
To compile the list, GolfPass analyzed 257 courses in the state along with over 14,000 reviews submitted by Texas golfers throughout the year. Subcategories, including value, conditions, layout, pace of play, staff friendliness, and off-course amenities, were also considered.
