Wags and Whiskers Gala Benefits Hill Country Humane Society
BUCHANAN DAM — The third annual Wags and Whiskers Gala has several big changes this year.
Among them is a live auction and a different venue.
This year’s boots-and-bling-themed fundraiser for the Hill Country Humane Society is 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Escondido Golf and Lake Club, 9191 RR 2147 in Horseshoe Bay. Admission is $75 a person, which includes a free raffle ticket, or $1,000 for a table of 10.
The gala features a ranch-to-table buffet of stuffed quail, carved prime rib, turkey, and all the fixings as well as complimentary wine and cocktails.
The Brandon Alan Band is the featured entertainer. The group released its newest radio single, “Another Day,” on May 1 and has debuted in the top 100 of the Texas Regional Radio charts. The band’s self-titled album was recorded in Austin and mixed in Nashville. Their influences include Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and John Fogerty.
Alan and his band co-headlined Balloons Over Horseshoe Bay Resort with Bob Schneider in 2017.
Auction items include floor seat tickets to the George Strait concert at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, a football signed by Dallas Cowboys legend Roger Staubach, a Yeti cooler, a professional guided fishing trip, and a two-day guided management hunt at Paloma Ranch in Maverick County, located 140 miles southwest of San Antonio.
“We still have more things coming in,” said Lynn Bishop of the Highland Lakes Humane Society.
Puppies in their cute adoption vests will be taken table to table by first responders. Other pets from the facility also will be in attendance.
