Whey Jennings, grandson of outlaw country music legend Waylon Jennings, plays the Marble Falls VFW Post 10376 during an evening of live music Sunday, January 12.

The event begins at 3 p.m. with local openers The Highsmiths, Courtney & Charly and The Last Word, and 1 Foot N. Jennings is expected to perform at 7:30 p.m. during the show, which ends at 9 p.m.

Whey Jennings is described on his website as a “rough around the edges, unpolished singer with a voice as big as Texas.” He first took the stage as a young boy, walking unexpectedly onto it while his grandfather was performing.

Young Whey found a microphone backstage and ran out singing “Mama Don’t Let Your Babies Grow up to be Cowboys.” Grandpa caught up with him on his guitar, and they performed the whole song together to a wildly appreciative crowd. The younger Jennings had been bitten by the performance bug!

The concert benefits the Harmony School of Creative Arts of Marble Falls. Tickets are $12 in advance and $20 at the door. Marble Falls VFW Post 10376 is located at 1001 Veterans Drive at RR 1431 in Marble Falls.
