It's all downhill at Marble Falls Soapbox Classic
The sixth annual Marble Falls Soapbox Classic speeds down a hilly Marble Falls street on Father’s Day weekend, June 19-21.
The race pits driver against driver in a gravity-fueled, mad dash to the bottom of the Third Street Hill, about 750 feet from the start.
While soapbox derby racing is typically considered a kids' sport, Marble Falls’ version is for grownups, who build their own rides and haul 'em downtown for a grand show (and a few crashes.)
The two divisions are single racer and Jamaican, which resembles an Olympic bobsled event.
Along with the racing, you can enjoy live music, vendors and shopping on Historic Main Street.
Set up your lawn chairs to watch the action. While there's no charge for spectators, be sure to bring a hat and some sunscreen or you’ll be paying with a sunburn.
